Product Description
Bird Image (1972) is a work executed in the mono-sgraffito technique, depicting a poetic scene of animals and fantasy. At the center stands a large, resting bird whose body shimmers in warm shades of gold, ochre, and brown. Surrounding it are other birds, small animals, and delicate drawn forms that float through the pictorial space like thoughts or memories.
The composition appears both light and narrative. Delicate line drawings meet flowing color fields, creating figures that are merely suggested and partially dissolve into the background. Small details—such as insects, birds, and ornamental shapes—give the image a playful, almost fairy-tale atmosphere.
Golden pigments and earthy tones combine with soft nuances of gray and blue. The characteristic sgraffito structure creates a lively surface where lines, colors, and textures intertwine.
