A happy couple

"A Happy Couple" shows intimacy without pathos. Two figures stand close together, resting almost within each other. Their faces are gentle, turned inward, connected by a quiet sense of naturalness. It is not a loud happiness, not a moment of euphoria—but rather a state of trust, of mutual arrival.

The two are surrounded by birds, blossoms, and floating forms. They appear as symbols of protection, vitality, and the fragile balance between human and nature. The bird in the foreground, glowing warmly in orange and gold, seems to accompany the couple—as a guardian or an expression of shared energy.

Using the mono-sgraffito technique, Ri Meuser von Eschmar combines fine lines with multi-layered color spaces. Pigments in gray, blue, ochre, and copper overlap, are revealed, and are then taken back. This creates a surface that is not smooth, but alive—full of traces, depth, and time.

This work tells of relationship as a silent agreement. Of intimacy that needs no explanation. "A Happy Couple" is not an idealized image, but a quiet moment of harmony—captured in color, line, and feeling.
