Two massive, dark forms face each other in a turbulent pictorial space – like primal forces or archaic beings breaking forth from the chaos of matter. The expressive lines allow for no final contours; everything is in the process of becoming.

The image triggers a primal, almost unsettling energy. The muted shades of gray and brown, broken by turquoise and rust, create a world before time. It is an image that one feels physically before understanding it.

Created in 1990, this work belongs to a phase of intense formal condensation in Ri Meuser's oeuvre.
