Image Interpretation
A mysterious female figure with dark hair and a turquoise headdress emerges from a deep black, atmospheric background. Her body is bathed in warm red-orange; to her right, another, only vaguely visible figure appears. At the bottom edge of the image, a small ornament gleams—delicate and significant.
Atmosphere & Effect
The image radiates a dark, mysterious intensity. The contrast between the deep blue-black tones and the warm orange-red of the figure gives the work an almost dramatic depth. The woman seems like an apparition, half phantom, half real—unapproachable yet captivating.
Background & Meaning
Created around the year 2000, this work bears witness to Ri Meuser's mature visual language. The female figure as a bearer of mystery and energy is a recurring motif in her work. In this image, the mono-sgraffito technique becomes a means of revelation: beneath the darkness lies light—and beneath the surface, the actual image.
Was ist Monosgrafitto?
