Image Interpretation
“Spaceart – Star Explosion” depicts a primal cosmic force: from a dark center, an explosion in silver and white erupts, surrounded by golden points of light like a distant star cloud. The sgraffito technique transforms layers of pigment into a galaxy of energy and matter.
Atmosphere & Impact
The work unfolds an overwhelming, almost meditative power. The blackness of space, the erupting explosion of light, and the shimmering gold dots create a sense of infinite vastness and cosmic stillness. One stands before a moment of the Big Bang – frozen in time and matter.
Background & Meaning
Created in 1987, this piece is part of Ri Meuser’s “Spaceart” series – an artistic exploration of the universe and questions regarding origin and energy. The title says it all: the star explosion as a metaphor for creation, transience, and the sublime. One of the most impressive works from this creative phase.
