Image Interpretation
Three human figures are grouped together in an expressive, densely woven pictorial space. The center is dominated by a mysterious figure with a bird-like headdress, flanked by a pale face on the left and a profiled visage on the right. Gold, bronze, and green overlap to create an almost sacral texture.
Atmosphere & Effect
The work radiates a ritualistic, almost shamanic energy. The golden structures and the luminous green in the center appear like a halo or an apparition. Wine red, ochre, and gray frame the scene, lending it weight and depth. One feels as if witnessing a secret moment.
Background & Meaning
Created in 1973-1974, this work demonstrates Ri Meuser's preoccupation with archaic worlds of figures and ritual pictorial formulas. The condensation of the faces and their almost mask-like features point to an exploration of identity, transformation, and the human mask. A key work from Meuser's early creative phase.
