A nocturnal scene in vibrant emerald green and deep black unfolds before the viewer like a stage curtain. Shadowy figures emerge from the darkness: a central figure with a large, pensive face appears to be gazing through an archway while cradling a small being—perhaps a child, perhaps a doll—in their arms.

A trident or trident-like symbol hovers above, like a sign of sovereignty from another era. To the right in the background rises the silhouette of a structure with towers and battlements, reminiscent of Indian temple architecture or oriental palaces. A fish glides through the green twilight—again, that recurring motif which, in the paintings of Ri Meuser von Eschmar, represents purity and immortality. The entire composition feels like a scene from a dream play in which decision and hesitation, power and vulnerability confront one another—a minor dilemma, caught between setting out and standing still.

The intense green, which appears unusually dominant in the artist's color palette, and the oriental-inspired architecture suggest influences from her study trips to India, Pakistan, and Nepal—countries where the trident as an attribute of Shiva is ubiquitous and where she experienced the fusion of spirituality and everyday life at close quarters.
