Image Interpretation

A crowned figure in flowing robes turns with hands raised in prayer toward an ornate chalice, which spirals upward like a botanical vision from veils of gold and ochre.

The scene breathes the atmosphere of a silent ceremony – a moment of devotion between human and nature, captured in delicate silver-blue and warm amber. At the figure's feet sits a small, watchful cat as a faithful companion, lending the image a familiar, almost domestic warmth amidst the ethereal. The floral symbolism and Art Nouveau-style lines that run through the chalice and the lady's robes reveal the influence of Art Nouveau – a movement that Ri Meuser von Eschmar studied intensively during her art studies in Aachen and integrated into her own visual language throughout her life.

The solemn, almost sacred posture of the figure also recalls depictions from archaic art, traces of which the artist explored firsthand during excavations and her numerous study trips through Europe and the Mediterranean. At the bottom left is her characteristic signature featuring the harp of Apollo, the inner eye, and the eternal light – symbols she shaped into her personal mark during her world travels.
