Product Description
Strange Family (1972) is a work with a strong character, created in the mono-sgraffito technique and measuring 53 × 32 cm. The piece depicts an unusual group of figures that connect closely with one another, forming their own almost surreal community.
The figures appear intentionally alienated: elongated bodies, unusual proportions, and flowing shapes create a tense composition. Animal and human elements merge, causing the image to oscillate between reality and fantasy.
The color palette is dominated by muted grays, ochres, and warm earth tones, complemented by fine linear structures and the characteristic sgraffito surface. The incised lines give the figures expression and depth, while light, almost radiant sections give the work a special luminosity.
The image thrives on its ambiguity: it appears simultaneously playful and mysterious, calm yet full of inner movement. Strange Family invites the viewer to explore the relationships between the figures and to discover new details.
