Description
The painting "Etruscan Scene" (1986) leads the viewer into an archaic world full of symbolism and warmth. Two figures meet in a gesture of giving – between them floats a flower, a symbol of life, beauty, and transience. The background is reminiscent of frescoes on ancient walls, streaked with earthy tones and golden reflections.
Ri Meuser von Eschmar transforms historical memory into a vivid present. Her mono sgraffito technique makes the work appear as if from a bygone era – layer upon layer creates a surface that recalls aged walls, yet is imbued with inner light.
In the scene, human, animal, and symbol merge. Jugs, mythical creatures, and ornaments emerge as fragments of a lost culture. The composition is reminiscent of ritual depictions in Etruscan art, yet Meuser breathes a new soul into them: instead of distance, she creates closeness – instead of history, emotion.
"Etruscan Scene" is a tribute to humanity amidst the mythical – a work that unites past and present in a poetic way.
Was ist Monosgrafitto?
