Description
"The Couple" shows two faces standing close together, simultaneously approaching and distancing themselves from one another. Their large, alert eyes appear questioning and turned inward, as if they were engrossed in a silent dialogue. The proximity of the figures creates intimacy, yet the restless lines and the rough, heavily textured surface also make tension and vulnerability palpable. Golden and earthy color accents run through the image like traces of memory and time, while darker areas intensify the emotional gravity of the encounter. The mono-sgraffito technique gives the contours a fragile, almost tentative quality, making the couple appear less like a fixed unit and more like a relationship in the making. The work explores closeness, dependency, and the silent struggle of two people who are connected without being completely dissolved into one another.
