Description
“Columbus Center” acts like a condensed snapshot of urban perception and internal movement. Using the mono-sgraffito technique, Ri Meuser von Eschmar develops a network of faces, gazes, and fragmented figures that overlap, draw near, and detach from one another again. The depicted heads seem to exist in a shared space, yet each appears deeply absorbed in their own world of thought. Fine lines, incised contours, and delicate streaks of color in gray, violet, and earthy tones create an atmosphere balanced between the public and the intimate. The image is less reminiscent of a specific location than of the experience of one: voices, encounters, and fleeting impressions that layer upon one another in the memory. “Columbus Center” tells a story of orientation and disorientation simultaneously—of people existing side by side, connected by proximity, yet separated by their inner worlds.
