“Relationship Matter” is one of those works in which Ri Meuser von Eschmar does not portray human closeness as something simple – but rather as a quiet, shimmering web of glances, secrets, and unspoken feelings.

Two figures stand opposite one another, so close that their contours almost touch – and yet there is a tension between them that conveys more than any gesture. Their large, open eyes act like mirrors: warm, questioning, inviting. They know each other, perhaps for a long time. Perhaps only since a moment ago. Yet something connects them that does not need to be spoken.

The mono-sgraffito technique makes their silhouettes emerge like memories rising from various layers: color pigments were applied, scraped away, and condensed anew. As a result, figures, beings, and small symbols shimmer beneath the surface – birds, butterflies, faces that appear and vanish, as if telling the stories of a relationship growing in the background.

The warm red and earth tones create an atmosphere of intimacy and touch. Nothing is aggressive or loud – everything feels like a silent dialogue. The lines dance between tenderness and outburst, showing the complexity of human closeness: affection, uncertainty, attraction, change.

The small, slightly playful figures – a bird on a shoulder, a mischievous face, a child appearing at the edge of the image – also act like memories or invisible companions that help shape every relationship.

“Relationship Matter” is a work full of subtle nuances.
It tells of how two people see each other – truly see each other – and how much resonates in that moment: the past, hope, longing, and a touch of magic.
