"Träumereien" (Daydreams) is a window into a world where the boundaries between fantasy and reality become fluid. In this work, Ri Meuser von Eschmar leads viewers into a dreamlike interrealm where a single fish becomes the bearer of entire stories—stories that unfold in fine lines, hidden figures, and symbolic details.

The large fish, central and powerful, seems not to swim, but to float. Its body is like a living map: in the shimmering shades of red, ochre, and rosé, small figures emerge—kings, animals, faces, mythical creatures. They are not painted as in a clear image, but appear like memories rising from the subconscious.

The mono-sgraffito technique gives the work a deep, multi-layered surface. Pigments are applied, scratched away, and glazed anew. This makes the image look like a dream that has been painted over time and again until all layers become visible simultaneously—past, present, and fantasy in a single moment.

The fish itself—a central symbol in Meuser’s work—stands for purity, transformation, and diving into one's own inner world. In "Träumereien," it becomes not just a pictorial motif, but a storyteller: small fairy tales play out on its body, as if it carries entire worlds within itself.

Fine drawings in the background—floating beings, small figures with crowns, delicate animal shapes—are reminiscent of childlike sketches from a long-forgotten time. Yet, that is precisely where their magic lies: everything seems familiar and mysterious all at once.

"Träumereien" is a poetic work about the human capacity to immerse oneself in images that hover between reality and fairy tale. An image that does not speak loudly—but lingers long after.
