Encounter with a lady

"Encounter with a Lady" from 1976 is a work that fascinates in a quiet way – delicate, mysterious, and at the same time filled with deep inner tension. Prof. Ri Meuser von Eschmar, the creator of the Mono Sgraffito technique, creates a scene here that unfolds between dream and memory.

On the shimmering surface of the work, a female figure emerges – graceful, draped in a hint of pink, gold, and gray. Her eyes seem to be searching for something, perhaps an answer, perhaps a counterpart. Lines, engravings, and light reflections weave around her like a fine net of emotion and time.

The composition feels like a captured moment of an encounter – fleeting, almost subconscious, yet with a lasting impact. The background seems to come alive: from the fine etchings, other figures emerge, faces and beings that silently observe the scene.

With her Mono Sgraffito technique, Meuser transfers not only color but also energy onto the image. Up to sixteen layers of fine pigments are applied, scraped off, and reglazed. The result is a surface that appears both transparent and mysterious – like a skin of time.
