Product Description
Out of the Box (1981) is a work created using the mono-sgraffito technique, depicting a complex scene between reality and fantasy. On the left side, a group of figures appears, standing together as if within a frame or box. Their faces appear calm and thoughtful, as if they were looking out from another world onto the landscape.
To the right, the pictorial space opens up to a nocturnal scene with architecture, a tower, and a landscape under a bright moon. The two areas of the image act like two different levels – an intimate, figurative scene in the foreground and a vast, mysterious landscape behind it.
Warm gold and ochre tones meet cool shades of grey and blue. The characteristic sgraffito texture creates a vibrant surface where lines, layers of color, and relief-like structures merge with one another.
