Description

"Evening Conversation" is a work of quiet depth – created between 1982 and 1985, during a phase in which Prof. Ri Meuser von Eschmar brought her mono sgraffito technique to full maturity. It depicts three figures in intimate exchange, captured in that moment between dusk and night, when words grow quieter and thoughts begin to take shape.

The scene acts like a dialogue between light and shadow: gold and bronze tones flow over the figures, while silvery reflections run through the surface. The three figures – half human, half mythical – seem connected to one another in a fluid movement. Their bodies dissolve into the painterly structure, their faces remain shadowy, as if formed from memory.

Meuser succeeds in making the invisible palpable. The conversation taking place here appears not to be a spoken one, but a spiritual one – an exchange between beings who sense more than they know. The metallic luminosity of the mono sgraffito technique lends the work an almost ethereal aura: light refracts within the layers of pigment and metal, making the figures pulse with life.

In terms of content, "Evening Conversation" stands for connection and transition – for those quiet moments in which closeness arises without needing to be named. It is a symbol of the human within the timeless, of the encounter as a creative moment.

A work that resonates – quiet, multi-layered, and permeated by a poetic stillness. It invites you to pause, to listen – and perhaps to rediscover your own "inner conversation."
